THE MERCY OF GOD: THE REASON WE ARE STILL STANDING

We are not standing today because we have done everything right. We are standing because the mercy of God has remained faithful through it all.

THE MERCY OF GOD: THE REASON WE ARE STILL STANDING

If God were to judge us by every mistake we have made, how many of us would still be standing today?

Sometimes, we look at our lives and celebrate how far we have come, forgetting that it is not our strength, wisdom, or righteousness that has sustained us, but the unfailing mercy of God.

There were moments we made wrong decisions, took His protection for granted, and wandered away from His instructions. Yet, in His compassion, God continued to call us back to Himself.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV) reminds us:

"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

What a beautiful assurance!

Every new morning is another reminder that God's mercy has not been exhausted. His compassion does not disappear because yesterday was difficult, nor does His faithfulness depend on our circumstances.

Think about the challenges you have overcome, the dangers you escaped, the doors that opened when hope seemed lost, and the strength you received when you felt completely exhausted.

How much of it can you truly attribute to your own ability?

Psalm 103:10 (KJV) declares:

"He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities."

God's mercy is not a reward for perfect people. It is an expression of His compassionate nature toward humanity.

However, His mercy should never become an excuse to continue in wrongdoing. Instead, it should inspire humility, repentance, gratitude, and a deeper commitment to living according to His Word.

Perhaps you are reading this today with a heavy heart. You may be carrying regrets from yesterday, struggling with guilt, or wondering whether God still cares about you.

Remember this:

Your mistakes may be great, but God's mercy is greater. Your past may be painful, but His grace offers hope for a new beginning.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) encourages us:

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Whatever season you are going through, never underestimate the power of God's mercy. It can strengthen the weary, restore the brokenhearted, and give renewed hope to those who sincerely turn to Him.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless mercy and unfailing compassion. Thank You for the battles You have brought us through, the forgiveness You offer, and the opportunities You give us to begin again.

May Your mercy speak over our lives, families, health, careers, and every situation that concerns us. Where we have fallen short, forgive us. Where we are weak, strengthen us. Where we have lost our way, guide us back into Your presence.

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
